Year 5... Your journey to High School - Durrington High School

We understand that choosing your secondary school is a vitally important decision for you to make and so to help make the transition from primary to secondary school informed, smooth and enjoyable, here are some of our upcoming events. We look forward to welcoming you to our school.

Year 5 Open Mornings - July 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th 2026 (08:30am - 10:00am)

On behalf of everyone at Durrington, we would like to extend the warmest of welcomes to you and your child. We are delighted that you are considering us as part of your child’s onward journey in education and excited about the opportunity to meet them (and you!). We are incredibly proud of our students and school and are keen for you to hear about, and experience first-hand, the amazing range of opportunities we can offer your child.

Choosing the right secondary school for your child can be a daunting decision and process. We are here to help. Through many years of transition experience when know what works and what to do to ensure your child feels safe, happy and excited about their transition to Durrington. It’s also our job to make the transition process as smooth and simple as possible. Hence we are offering this first step.

To enable you and your child to find out a bit more about all that we have to offer we are delighted to share with you details of our upcoming year 5 open mornings. By coming to one of these events you, and importantly your child, will have a chance to

– Meet and chat with our Co-Headteachers,

– Meet some of our wonderful staff and some of our lovely current year 7 children,

– Have a tour around our fantastic school site & facilities, and

– Have a Durrington lesson experience (alongside your child)

Most of all it will give you, and your child the opportunity to ask any questions you may have over a coffee and croissant!

The next step is to book in to one of the open morning events. There will be a different lesson experience on each day, so please do choose carefully! We would also advise you to book early as places are limited and will run out quickly! As such places are limited to 1 open morning per child/family.

1 ticket = attendance for one child and one adult.

Perspective Parents' Open Evening – Date to follow (October 2026)

Join us for our Open Evening—a fantastic opportunity for both parents and children to discover what makes our school a truly inspiring place to learn and grow. Throughout the evening, you’ll have the chance to explore our facilities, meet passionate teachers, and speak with current students about their experiences. Whether you’re interested in our academic achievements, vibrant extracurricular activities, or strong sense of community, the Open Evening offers a first-hand look at everything we have to offer. Come and see how we can support your child’s journey to success.

Open Morning Tours – October 2026 (09:00am - 10:00am)

We warmly invite Year 6 students and their families to join us for an Open Morning Tour, led by a member of our leadership team. This is a wonderful opportunity to see our school in action, explore our vibrant learning environment, and experience the unique atmosphere that makes our school so special! Visitors will have the chance to ask questions, meet staff and students, and gain a real insight into daily life at our school.

Booking for these tours will open on the school website during September. Should you wish to book a tour outside of these times with our SENDCO, please contact us via email admin@durring.com.
