Geography Residential Field trip 2026

A group of 25 enthusiastic Year 10 GCSE Geography students recently embarked on a residential field trip to Dorset, where they explored the spectacular Jurassic Coast, one of the UK’s most iconic World Heritage Sites.

During the visit, students experienced some of the region’s most famous coastal landmarks, including the dramatic Old Harry Rocks and the breath-taking natural arch of Durdle Door. As part of their studies on coastal landscapes, the trip provided an invaluable opportunity to bring classroom learning to life, allowing students to observe first-hand the processes of erosion, deposition and the formation of coastal landforms.

Despite the warm weather, students demonstrated excellent resilience, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the visit. Their efforts were rewarded with stunning coastal scenery, valuable fieldwork experiences, plenty of well-earned ice creams, and, of course, all sitting together in the common room to watch England win their match!

One student reflected on the experience, saying: “The trip was absolutely amazing. The views of the coastline were stunning. Leeson House had lots of fun activities and the grounds were great. I really enjoyed exploring the sand dunes and paddling in the sea too.”

The trip was a fantastic success, providing students with memorable experiences while deepening their geographical knowledge beyond the classroom.
