Talented young musicians from Durrington High School have taken the next exciting step in their musical journey after winning the school’s annual Battle of the Bands competition.
As part of their prize, the winning band, Amplified, spent the day recording at The Playroom in Arundel, gaining first-hand experience of working in a professional recording studio.
Made up of four students from Years 9 and 10, Amplified impressed judges with their musical ability and performance in the competition. During their recording session, they embraced the opportunity with enthusiasm, professionalism and creativity, working together to produce high-quality recordings of their music.
The school would like to extend its sincere thanks to Mike Saunders at The Playroom for generously providing his time, expertise and studio facilities. His support gave the students a unique opportunity to experience the recording process using industry-standard equipment, while offering valuable insight into the music industry.
The experience was one the students will not forget.
Jasmine, Year 9, said: “It was my first time in a recording studio and it felt unreal. Seeing all the instruments and taking part in the recording gave me a real sense of what it’s like to be a professional artist. It was an amazing experience that not many people get to have, and I feel very privileged.”
Alfie, Year 10, said: “Our recording session at The Playroom was absolutely incredible. I loved getting to use the professional equipment and software to make our songs sound fantastic. It has also given me more confidence for the future. A huge thank you to Mike for welcoming us into the studio.”
Logan, Year 9, added: “I really enjoyed recording in the studio. It was a brilliant experience, especially getting to use all the professional equipment, which we’d never normally have access to. We were so lucky to win the competition, and it made all our hard work feel worthwhile.”
Mr Lacey, Durrington High School music teacher and organiser of Battle of the Bands said:”We are incredibly proud of Amplified and everything they achieved through Battle of the Bands. Experiences like this allow our students to develop their musical talents beyond the classroom, build confidence and gain an invaluable insight into the creative industries. We are extremely grateful to Mike Saunders and The Playroom for making this opportunity possible and for inspiring our students to continue pursuing their passion for music.”
The recording session was a fitting reward for Amplified’s success and is sure to inspire both the band and other aspiring musicians across the school.
