A group of 60 exceptionally well-behaved Year 7 students enjoyed a memorable visit to Hampton Court Palace, where they took part in the fascinating Global Influences workshop. During the visit, students explored the magnificent Tudor kitchens, the Great Hall, and the stunning palace grounds, gaining a deeper understanding of life in the Tudor court of King Henry VIII. They saw impressive tapestries, historic architecture, and artefacts that revealed the wealth and power of the monarchy during this period.
As part of the Global Influences workshop, students investigated how trade, exploration, and contact with different parts of the world influenced Tudor England. They handled replica objects, examined spices, foods, fabrics, and luxury goods imported from overseas, and discussed how these global connections shaped daily life at the palace. Throughout the day, students showed excellent behaviour, curiosity, and maturity, representing the school brilliantly and making the most of this enriching learning experience.
“The Hampton Court Palace trip was an amazing experience full of wonderful sights and sounds, from documentaries, to trees that can touch the sky, to Tudor artefacts, to running through winding mazes. I would recommend visiting, not just history lovers, but for all students. It was one of the best field trips I’ve ever been on!” Freddy
“The trip to Hampton Court Palace was amazing! I loved learning about the history of the Palace and the people who lived there. It was an educational but fun place to go. I would recommend it to anyone who likes history and facts.” Poppy
“I think the trip to Hampton Court Palace was very informative and engaging because we learnt facts about all the rooms, for example the cooking room where they made over 1200 meals a day. Also, the people working there made it such an interesting experience as they were very enthusiastic and asked us interesting question. They also had items to show us and went into more details than we would explore at school.” Milo
“I thought the trip was great, the scenery was amazing, the grounds were massive and included an enormous maze, I would recommend visiting. There is a big court in the middle with a fountain, it has so many areas that feel like you are actually with King Henry VIII.” Tess
