Dear Parents & Carers,
We are pleased to invite you to a Higher Education Information Evening for Parents & Carers at Durrington High School. The event will take place at 5:30pm on Thursday 14th May in our Performing Arts Centre.
This event is specifically designed for parents and carers who would like to better understand the opportunities available to young people after school and college, particularly routes into university and degree apprenticeships. While we are especially keen to support families whose child may be the first in their family to consider these pathways, the event is open to all parents and carers who would like to learn more. Students are welcome to attend with their families if they wish, but the information shared will be aimed primarily at adults supporting future decisions.
Topics covered will include:
- Why young people may choose higher education
- University and degree apprenticeships
- Understanding the cost of university and student finance
- How future applications work
- How school choices and opportunities can support a future higher education pathway
- How students and families can explore opportunities and find out more
We know that higher education can sometimes feel unfamiliar or confusing, particularly if no one in the family has experienced it before. Our aim is to make the process clearer, answer common questions, and help families feel more confident about supporting their child’s future choices.
Whether your child is already interested in these routes, or you would simply like to understand the options available, we would be delighted to welcome you.
To help us plan resources, we would be grateful if you could complete our short Expression of Interest form if you are planning to attend. This will take less than one minute to complete.
We hope you are able to join us for what promises to be an informative and supportive evening.
Kind regards,
Toby Henry & Ben Crockett
