This weekend, three teams of Bronze DofE students (17 Year 10 participants) successfully completed their practice expedition.
Each team navigated their own planned routes across the South Downs, hiking independently and meeting staff at designated safety checkpoints along the way. The weather was on their side – sunny and dry – although some areas off the Downs were still very wet and muddy underfoot.
Along the journey, students were treated to an impressive sight: more than 30 hang gliders soaring above Devil’s Dyke.
There were a few moments of wandering off route – an important part of the learning experience and building navigation skills. After a cold night camping, everyone was up early to cook breakfast, pack down their tents, and begin the journey home.
Well done to all students for their teamwork, resilience, and positive attitude throughout the expedition.
