Sixty of our Year 9 students recently visited the Imperial War Museum to support their studies of the Holocaust and the Second World War. The trip provided an opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of this important period in history through powerful exhibits and historical artefacts.
As part of the visit, students took part in a Holocaust Education workshop. During the session, they explored personal stories, reflected on the impact of the Holocaust, and considered the vital lessons that history teaches us about tolerance, responsibility, and the importance of remembering the past.
The experience proved to be both moving and thought-provoking. At the end of the workshop, students shared their reflections by writing their thoughts on postcards, capturing what they had learned and why it is so important that the events of the Holocaust are never forgotten.
What our students had to say:
“I thought the trip was very interesting and interactive, I would recommend it for any history GCSE takers.”
“The Imperial War Museum was just so insightful and I learnt so much! It’s a great trip for history lovers.”
“I learnt new things and saw so many displays from the olden days that gave facts so I now know things I didn’t know before.”
“Learning about the Holocaust was really interesting.”
“I really enjoyed the trip, seeing the old war machines, and learning more about the Holocaust was really interesting, I am glad I went.”
