This week saw the first meeting on the Durrington High School council. It is composed of year 7 and 8 students and met to discuss issues that are important to them, their peers and how the school runs.
Over the course of the last 2 weeks our form representatives (in the image above) have led period one sessions during form time to discuss key topics. Today they brought those ideas back to the council to share with the Senior Student Leadership Team (SSLT). The SSLT will now pass these ideas onto the Co-Headteachers.
On this week’s agenda were the following questions;
- How can we encourage more students to wear their KAPP badges?
- What changes would students like to see in the KAPP system?
Some of their suggestions included;
- New designs for KAPP badges
- KAPP points being awarded for students that get zero anti-social signatures
- KAPP points awarded for students that have 100% attendance
The teaching staff and Co-Headteachers will now take onboard all of the feedback received and make any decisions that they believe will benefit the running of the school.
