Musical in a Weekend at Durrington High School

Once again students at Durrington excelled, managing to put together a musical production in just one weekend.  All the students involved were a credit to the school and the performing arts department throwing themselves into the challenge and making friends and memories along the way.

They worked really hard as a team with students from KS4 taking responsibility and leading others in choreography.  A special thank you to ex-students Beth Evans, Isabel Cole, Ambrose McDohnagh and Finley Lillywhite who gave up their weekend to support the department with all aspects including creating programmes, sorting costume and choreographing dance numbers.  A fantastic weekend!

Here’s what our wonderful year 7s had to say about their first 24-hour musical production:

“I really enjoyed the experience, it was a pleasure and it made me feel so welcome and a part of Durrington High School because the drama team are so lovely and I really like drama and acting. I would definitely recommend it if you like drama or acting.” Eliza

“I loved every second of the 24-hour musical. It really made me feel like I’m fitting right in at Durrington and even though it was very long and tiring I didn’t want to leave!” Elijah

“I thought the 24-hour musical was really fun! I loved the choreography and the songs. Every second I was there it was so good. I enjoyed the experience so much and I loved spending time with my friends.” Liv

“I was in the 24-hour production and I really enjoyed it, I made lots of friends and I would definitely do it again.”

“I enjoyed it as it was good to perform as I really like singing and dancing.” Ethan

“I love being part of the drama community, everyone was welcoming and friendly. If someone felt sad they would be cheered right up. I loved being part of the cast and the end result was amazing!” Poppy
