Meet the Senior Student Leadership Team 2024 / 2025

Ashton

Hi everyone, my name is Ashton and I am so excited to be part of the SSLT up until the end of my Durrington Journey. I believe that I am enthusiastic and confident that I can always bring something to the table. I love learning about the history and background of events, and I also love to travel to new destinations. I think that all 1,600 of our students should be so proud of themselves for being able to attend a secondary school as great and as passionate for their students as this one. Ever since my mum and my uncle attended Durrington, I have always wanted to go above and beyond my learning to make the most out of my school years. Once again, I am so proud to be a part of the SSLT, and I can’t wait for what we can bring to the school. See you soon!

Esme

I’m so happy to be on the SSLT because it gives me the opportunity to make a positive impact at our school and help create a better experience for all people. Being a part of this team means I can contribute ideas, support my peers, and work alongside other passionate student leaders. I can honestly say that my time in school hasn’t always been perfect. But over the years, I’ve learned how to overcome those struggles, turn things around, and grow into a more confident and passionate individual. Instead of letting setbacks define me, I decided to embrace them as opportunities for growth. I’ve learned that it’s okay to not have everything figured out, as long as you’re willing to learn, adapt, and keep going.

Tyler

Hey, my names Tyler and I will be part of next year’s SSLT. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be a role model to younger students and to have the ability to do some good to our community. I am so grateful to be part of such an amazing school. I believe that DHS does so many good things for the outside community, such as Hampers and Stockings, and I am so excited to be able to plan some of these events and plan fundraisers, like Food for Thought, to help different charities for people who are less fortunate than us. So now a bit about me, my favourite subject is DT as I love the design aspect of it, I love designing new products and floor plans as I aspire to be an architect when I am older. Music helps me a lot with my confidence, it lets me enter my own world so that I can focus on a task that I am doing, and it keeps me motivated. I have done many shows in my past and I have recently been taking part in some volunteering, during the summer, at a charity called CCPS which I really enjoy. I am an extremely easy person to approach, I may look a bit scary but trust me I do not bite, and I may not be good at continuing a conversation, but I am good at starting one and checking if someone is all right. I always try to go beyond my best in the tasks that I do, and I always try to help a friend out if they do not understand the task that we are doing.

Nethini

Hello everyone, I’m Nethini. If I could describe myself in three words, that would be caring, passionate and outgoing. I love taking part in social events such as volunteering, hiking and helping people. I always try to put the maximum effort into things I do both academic and non-academic. I am so excited to be a part of the SSLT and help everyone of you to make the best of your school experience and if you see me around feel free to talk.

Callum

My name is Callum Jillett and I am excited to be a part of the Student School Leadership Team this year. I am proud to be a DHS student because we are surrounded by incredible opportunities, a supportive community, and a spirit that makes our school special. Being on the SSLT allows me to help represent the voices of our students, contribute to positive change, and work alongside an inspiring team of leaders. I look forward to making this year one to remember and helping DHS continue to be a place where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and ready to achieve their best.

Elsie

Hi my name is Elsie and I am excited to be part of this year’s SSLT team. PE is my favourite subject in which I have attended many after school clubs and been a part of many school sports teams which has improved many of my skills including teamwork and perseverance. After leaving Durrington I hope to start training to become a PE teacher as I would love to encourage others to enjoy PE and it means that I would get to teach a subject that I personally love.

Samson

Hi, my name is Samson Weager and I’m very happy to be a member of the SSLT. I want to start by saying how much of a privilege it is to represent the school in such ways, for example through being a sports captain, being a member of the Oxford inspire scholars’ team, the platinum academy and also in general the Student Leadership team. I am academic, sporty and hardworking and will always listen to someone and help them out. But most of all I look forward to the upcoming year which is full of opportunities and goals.

Daisy

Hi, my name is Daisy and I am beyond happy to be a part of our school’s student senior leadership team. SSLT is a strong team and also a community within my school’s community. I am surrounded by my amazing peers which help me to improve all of my most important qualities such as leadership and communication skills. Over the years Durrington has offered me lots of brilliant opportunities and I’ve had the chance to take advantage of a lot of them like my extracurricular. For example, our after-school sports clubs which I have gone on to pursue further by being on a lot of the teams to represent Durrington. I am proud to say I am a Durrington student because of the school’s achievements and the spirit we have here as a whole to provide a safe and happy learning environment for everyone to produce an inclusive and diverse community.

Shay

Hi my name is Shay Reeve, I am happy to have been picked out for our school’s SSLT team and I am very proud and excited to be representing our school’s community this year and next Because of the large amount of change and opportunities at my disposal. A couple things I like about our school are PE, the school football team, where I play in goal, classes and my friends. Some achievements that run alongside these things are being part of the Oxford scholars program the platinum academy and most importantly being part of SSLT. but outside of school I like going out with my mates and doing boxing, I have my first fight on May the 10th! In the future, I am looking to pursue a career in biochemistry so hopefully I can get the right grades and take the course I need. Thank you for reading this. I would love to talk and help all of you out in the future.

Imani

Hi, my name is Imani and I am so happy to be a part of our senior student leadership team. I feel like this role can help me develop my communication skills, my teamwork skills and help me become a more well-rounded person. Throughout my years at Durrington I’ve seen how we have a safe, welcoming and very inclusive community for all our students. I could not be more pleased with the friendships and connections I’ve made with not only my friends but different members of staff that are always very supportive trying to encourage me to put myself out there. Durrington has a lot of opportunities to offer its students such as sporting activities, school trips and so much more. For example, I have represented our school on many of our sporting teams. I am proud to say I’m a part of our school community and to be able to learn in a team to provide a more safe and happy learning environment.
