We were lucky to have dry and mild weather when our fifty year 10 DofE students spent the morning hiking up on the South Downs. In addition to testing their map reading, they carried and pitched tents where they stopped for lunch and used their stoves to make a hot drink. Along the way some teams encountered herds of deer, watched Red Kites flying above and wood mice in the long grass.
Our nine teams followed different routes in muddy conditions, arriving at their finish location in the early afternoon.
Thanks go to our volunteers who accompanied the teams – Ms Chester, Mr Evans, Ms McDonald, Ms Potton, Ms Steele.
