Senior Student Leadership Team 2023 – 2024

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 10 students,

We are really excited to be launching the process for our fantastic year 10 students to apply to become part of the 2023-24 Senior Student Leadership Team (SSLT). This is a brilliant opportunity and open to every single year 10 student who feels they have the desire, time and commitment to serve their school as a senior student leader. We have met with your child today to explain the process.

Being part of the SSLT allows your son/daughter to work in a completely different way with the most senior leaders in school, their teachers, their peers and younger students. We will work with the successful team on projects to make a tangible difference to our school and wider community.

Student Leadership Teams in previous years have

  • Raised £1000’s for a variety of different local, national and international charities
  • Presented as the voice of the school across our social media and with the press
  • Run campaigns to raise awareness and lead their peers in addressing key issues

Applying to be part of the SSLT shows ambition, drive, and a commitment; these all being great skills for later life. Employers and colleges will be very impressed and this is something that will equip students with important life skills.

We are looking for applicants who want to represent the voices of many. People who are driven by helping others and who have contributed to the school community throughout their time at DHS. We want students who embody our key principles of Kindness, Aspiration, Perseverance and Pride.

If this is something you would like to apply for, please apply online using the form here Senior Student Leadership application form

Student’s company teams and form tutors will be available to talk through and support applications (however, we are very much interested in the personal views and voices of applicants).  Mrs Ward (Assistant Headteacher) will be leading the process so cannot help students with the applications.

Forms should be completed in full by Friday 10th March. We are expecting (as we had last year) a big response so please make sure your child gets their application in on time!

We look forward to learning more about you and hearing your ideas about how we can move #TeamDurrington forward to achieve even more success and a stronger community together.

Good luck!

Mrs Ward
Assistant Headteacher
