Dear Parents/Carers,
Firstly, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your incredible dedication, and share just how immensely proud I am of our wonderful Year 11 students. This fantastic cohort has truly matured and thrived throughout their exam period – a brilliant achievement that is a direct testament to the unwavering support, love, and guidance you have poured into them.
Now that our students have nearly crossed the finish line of their exams, it is time to celebrate! We are so excited to pivot our attention to honouring their hard work, resilience, and achievements throughout their memorable time at Durrington. To mark this milestone, we have three celebratory events that will take place over the extended summer break.
Leavers’ Assembly – Thursday 25th June
- Students are to arrive at school in their full school uniform from 8:45-9:00am and go to their normal tutor bases.
- At 9:15am students will be brought down to the Performing Arts Centre by their form tutor for their final Durrington High School assembly. This will run until 10:00am.
- At 10:00am students will move to the gym, where they will collect their Summer Ball ticket and sign their leavers documents. This will only happen once all library books and school equipment has been returned.
- If your child cannot attend the leavers’ assembly their ticket will be on the door of the Summer Ball, to be collected on arrival at the event.
- At this stage students will be able to sign their shirts and donate any uniform (ties and blazers) and revision guides they do not want back to the school.
- At 10:15am all students will leave the school site via the front or back entrance, ensuring they have emptied their lockers and taken their padlocks with them.
Summer Ball – Thursday 25th June
- The Summer Ball is once again being held at the Avisford Park Hilton Hotel, Arundel on Thursday 25th June 2026 from 6:30pm – 10:00pm. The ball will be hosted in the Grand Hall at the far end of the hotel building.
- Students should arrive at the venue from 6:30pm. Parents and carers are welcome to be present at the hotel for their arrival and should park in the main hotel car park before walking down towards the lawn, next to the Grand Hall area. The formal part of the evening will start at 7:00pm.
- The Summer Ball ends at 10:00pm. All students will need to have arranged transport and have left the venue by 10:00pm.
GCSE results day – Thursday 20th August
- Students will be able to collect their GCSE results from 10:00am.
- Further information about the day will be shared by Mrs Parkes at a later date.
Thank you for your continued support throughout your child’s time at Durrington High School. Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to wish our 2025/26 year 11 students all the very best in their future endeavours. It has been a real privilege supporting this year group of students and watching them turn into fantastic young adults.
Yours Sincerely
Samuel Atkins
