Careers Week 2026

Durrington Careers Week 2026 has been a huge success, with representatives from over 20 industries attending across four packed days of inspiration, interaction and future-focused conversations.

Year 8-10 students took part in industry led spotlight sessions in the PAC, exploring Early Years education, Gatwick apprenticeships, careers in sport, creating your own business, and a fantastic interview session with young finance and engineering apprentices from Shoreham Port. These sessions gave students the chance to hear directly from people promoting exciting future pathways.

Our lunchtime careers exhibition was hugely popular throughout the week. Students met representatives from a wide range of industries, including healthcare, finance, law, policing, performing arts, animal care, agriculture, engineering, university and many more. Some standout moments included real racing cars, plant potting, fitness competitions and strong uniformed services representation from the Army, the RAF and Worthing College’s Uniformed Services team.

Year 7 students also threw themselves into the week through their Careers Passports, collecting stamps after positive conversations and activities with visitors. Students across the school used our Careers discussion board in Period 1, sharing ideas, questions and reflections about their futures.

Across the week, visitors joined classroom lessons, giving students the chance to meet employers and education providers in smaller settings and ask their own questions. Teachers supported the week by discussing the essential skills and career links within their subjects.

Mr Henry, Careers Leader, said: “This week has shown our students just how many exciting futures are out there. We are incredibly grateful to every visitor who helped bring careers to life.”
