98 Year 8 students went to Legoland on Tuesday 2nd June 2026 as part of a computing trip. The students all attended a Lego Spike workshop where they built, coded, and debugged their own robots using LEGOLAND’s very own SPIKE™ Prime robotics sets!
During the workshop some students managed to make their robots navigate across the LEGOLAND map, turning and also making lights and sounds. Other students experimented with the sensors to get them to automatically stop the robot. It was great to see all the student so engaged and experimenting with the code, we even had a Lego Spike battle royale at the end of the day!
The students all found creative solutions as they developed their problem-solving skills, this experience will enable the year 8 students to learn more about algorithms, sequences, and inputs & outputs.
Once the workshop was over each group then enjoyed the rest of the day in the park, although there were rain showers, the students managed to enjoy the rides without having to queue!
