Year 10 Oxford Scholars

As part of the schools ongoing partnership with St John’s College, Oxford and their Inspire Programme, thirty Year 10 students recently visited Oxford, taking part in a day designed to broaden horizons, develop skills and raise higher education aspirations.

The day began with a welcome talk introducing the history of Oxford University and life at St John’s College. Students learned about university study, the collegiate system, student life, and why universities like Oxford are open to young people from all backgrounds who aim high and work hard.

Students were served lunch in the college’s dining hall before taking part in a guided tour of the historic college buildings and a Q&A session with current Oxford students. This gave them the chance to ask honest questions about applications, study, social life, and what it is really like to study at one of the world’s leading universities.

During the afternoon, students participated in a critical thinking workshop about artificial intelligence, to help develop their communication and debating skills, before enjoying some time exploring the city.

We would like to thank St John’s College for hosting such an inspiring and memorable day.
