Year 10 DofE Bronze Qualifying Expedition

Last weekend, our intrepid Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Award participants successfully completed their Bronze Qualifying Expedition across the South Downs, including an overnight camping stay.

To achieve their qualification, students were required to trek for a minimum six hours each day, with much of the route involving ‘challenging and adventurous journeying’ through unfamiliar terrain. Carrying all of their own equipment, clothing, food, and camping gear, each team demonstrated impressive resilience, organisation, and perseverance throughout the expedition.

Working independently and assessed remotely by expedition assessors, the three teams navigated their routes, established their camps, and cooked their own meals. The experience provided an excellent opportunity for students to develop confidence, teamwork, leadership, and self-reliance while enjoying the beautiful South Downs landscape, albeit with the occasional heavy downpour!

Congratulations to all students involved for their outstanding effort, positive attitude, and successful completion of this important stage of their Bronze Award journey.
