Award winning author visit

Mrs Dacosta, our school librarian, took a group of Year 8 and 9 students to Shoreham Academy for an exciting visit with award-winning author Sarah Crossan.

During the event, Sarah delivered an engaging and insightful talk about her latest book, Gone For Good, her first crime and mystery novel written especially for teenage readers. She shared how she begins her writing process by carefully choosing the setting, explaining that creating the perfect location is key when building a convincing and suspenseful mystery. From there, she outlined how she develops her plots, weaving together clues and twists to keep readers guessing until the very end.

Sarah, who is widely known for writing novels in verse, also spoke about her distinctive writing style. She described how writing in verse allows her to focus on powerful emotions, carefully chosen words, and strong imagery, offering students a fascinating insight into her creative process.

After the talk, students had the wonderful opportunity to meet Sarah in person and have their books signed. It was an inspiring experience for everyone involved and a memorable day for our aspiring young writers.
