Our recent Year 10 Careers Day was a highlight of the term and a fantastic example of students rising to the occasion.
Across the day, students took part in a carousel of carefully designed activities focused on employability, future pathways, and confidence building. These included mock interviews with visiting professionals, interactive discussions about different jobs and sectors, and sessions exploring post-16 options such as apprenticeships, and further education. Students also spent time reflecting on their work experience placements and thinking about how to present their skills and experiences effectively.
What stood out most was the way our students conducted themselves. They were polite, engaged, and curious, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine interest in the experiences shared by our volunteers and presenters. Many visitors commented on how well prepared the students were, and how confidently they communicated, particularly during the mock interview sessions.
We are extremely grateful to the large number of volunteers from a wide range of industries who gave up their time to support the day. Their willingness to talk honestly about their jobs, career journeys, and the realities of working life gave students valuable insights that cannot be replicated in the classroom.
Our Careers Leader, Mr Henry said:
“Careers Day is about helping students see what is possible and understand that there are many different routes to success. I was incredibly proud of how seriously our Year 10s approached the day and how well they represented the school. The conversations they had will genuinely help them.”
Careers Day forms a key part of our wider careers programme. It was a purposeful, positive day that will have a lasting impact as students move towards important post-16 decisions.
Thank you to all our parents/carers for your continued support, and to our volunteers for helping bring the world of work to life for our young people.
