Battle of the Bands heat 1

Last week saw the launch of this year’s Battle of the Bands, and what a start it was! Four student bands took to the stage, each delivering a fifteen-minute set that showcased the incredible musical talent we have here at Durrington High School.

Opening the evening were No Boys Allowed, an all-female group whose performance burst with sass, fire, and confidence. Their stage presence set the tone for an unforgettable night. Next up were Amplified, a band made up of students from across different year groups. Their tight musicianship and technical ability impressed the judges, who praised the skill and precision in every song.

Third to perform were The Treble Makers, another all-girl vocal group who instantly made their mark, not just with their song choices, but with their homemade band T-shirts and an array of baked treats, courtesy of Lily Giles of Baker Street. Their custom-labelled goodies proved almost as popular as their performance!

Closing the show were the high-octane Razorwire, whose endless energy, strong crowd involvement, and expertly curated setlist had the auditorium buzzing. Their performance sparked plenty of excited discussion among the judges.

Our judging panel for the night featured Oz Dechaine (musician and Music Lecturer at Northbrook College), Dom O’Brien (Lead Singer of Murdoch’s Crazy Eyes), and Durrington’s own Emily Isham. After much debate, and despite Miss Isham’s wish to send all four bands through, the judges selected Razorwire and No Boys Allowed as the Heat 1 winners who will progress to the final.

The atmosphere on the night was incredible: a packed auditorium, an enthusiastic crowd, and cheering that filled every moment.

Razorwire band member James said: “We were so excited to find out we had gone through to the finals! Our main intention was to play some great music with some great people, and to really put on a show, but now we will be able to perform once again on the 23rd April 2026 where we hope you will come along and support.”

With Heat 2 approaching on 15th January 2026, excitement is already building. Four new bands will battle it out for the final two spots in the grand final, taking place on 23rd April 2026.

Tickets for Heat 2 are available on Arbor for £3, or £5 on the door. Be quick, if Heat 1 was anything to go by, the next round will be even bigger and louder!
