Dear Parent/Carers,
I’d like to take this opportunity to say once again how proud I am of our current year 11 students. They continue to work incredibly hard which is testament to the support and guidance you provide. With just a matter of days to go before the students start their written mock exams, I wanted to be clear with our expectations of them during the exam period. The mock exam period is really important in embedding clear routines for revision and preparation as well as to give us as teachers guidance on how your child is doing and the next steps of support for further improvement.
Students had an assembly on Friday 14th November explaining our expectations as well as being given an envelope. The envelope contained:
- A copy of their Year 11 TP4 report showing current and projected grades for each subject.
- A copy of their candidate exam information (seat numbers and exam times)
- A copy of the revision schedule during the exam period (included with this letter)
- A copy of the mock exam timetable
Expectations of all students during the Mock exam period:
- Students are to register and attend P1 as normal with their tutor unless they have extra time.
- For morning exams students will need to be lined up by the Sports Hall, their tutor will walk them there if it is a whole cohort exam
- Students are to bring their own revision for when attending P1
- Students are to be on time to lessons and for their exams
- Students are to attend all exams and lessons in the full correct uniform.
- Please make sure they know their seat number and candidate number in advance every morning. Students will be also be able to confirm their seating arrangements by checking the lists in the Science area, prior to the start of each exam.
- Exam timetables can also be viewed in Arbor under ‘View Student Profile’ > ‘Examinations.’
- Bags, coats, mobile phones and watches must be placed in lockers and must not be brought into the exam room. This includes students who are seated in the Bistro.
Revision Resources for all subjects:
This link – shared numerous times with students already – contains content checklists, videos, knowledge organisers, past papers, mark schemes and PowerPoints to support their revision.

Night before news
We will be sending our ‘night before news’ videos before each exam via emails to yourselves and your child. These videos have been made by our curriculum leaders explaining the exam they are about to take and also giving them some key pointers and skills that could enable them to be successful. Please take a few minutes to watch these each night with your child.
Revision sessions during the exam period:
We know from experience that any dedicated student can drastically improve their grades, even in a short space of time. We do know however, that this tends to happen more easily with the guided support from our subject specialist teachers that the know the exams inside out. It is for that reason that with have timetabled a detailed provision for revision during the exams. Please encourage your child to attend the P0 morning and P7 afternoon sessions, as we do know they make a huge difference in improving confidence just before their exams.
Revision Timetable: A print out has been given to each student.
