Durrington High School is bursting with pride today as students celebrate an incredible set of exam results – the reward for five years of hard work, determination, and resilience.
This year’s results mark a huge step forward for the school, with a significant rise in strong passes (grade 5 and above) in both English and maths, reflecting the dedication of students and staff alike.
An impressive number of Durrington students have received a grade 9 across multiple subjects, with others leaving with results demonstrating huge progress during their time at secondary school. Special mentions go to Freddie Dingwall, Jacob Hoarty, Zac Wood, Sianna Hearn, Gabriel Chan, Ethan Acevedo and Sienna Perry who all achieved near faultless results and will be among the top achievers in the country.
Co-headteachers Shaun Allison and Chris Woodcock praised the achievements, paying tribute not only to the students’ commitment but also to the dedicated teachers and pastoral staff whose support has been instrumental in this success.
Shaun Allison added: “We are incredibly proud of what our students have achieved. We were impressed with how last year’s cohort performed, but this group of students has raised the bar even higher, achieving an outstanding set of results. We are not surprised, though, as they worked exceptionally hard in the lead-up to and during their exams—and as we know, hard work always pays off. This is also testament to our incredible staff, who go above and beyond to ensure that all of our students receive the best possible support. It’s a day to be truly proud of Team Durrington.”
Chris Woodcock said: “It has been such a joy to see so many happy faces as students opened their results envelopes this morning. There are so many wonderful stories and individual successes to celebrate. Although it is hard to say goodbye to this outstanding year group, we are so proud of all they have achieved and excited to see the bright futures that lie ahead, with so many doors now open to them thanks to their excellent GCSE results.”
With results now collected, thoughts will turn to September and in particular inducting the new year 7 cohort into Durrington. Students can expect to enjoy several improvements to their school, including a brand new purpose built photography classroom.
