Year 7
Year 7 are currently working on programming their own 3-D gaming project called Kodu. They have been given a design brief, which they follow in their lessons, and are developing their game with multiple levels and increasing difficulty.
“Kodu is really creative. I have made a bridge to connect two islands, and mountains and landscapes. It’s fun to use your creativity to your limit.” Tommy
“I like creating games and learning more about Kodu.” Jonah
“I like our teacher, she is very enthusiastic and kind and helps with everyone’s ideas.” Haneefah
“Computer lessons are fun and also useful to learn new skills.” Hala

Year 8
Our year 8s are in the middle of a project where they are discovering how computers work. The students are learning the hardware components, and also the inner workings of each component, such as the CPU. They will also learn how the computers are networked together and the hardware required within a computer network.
“In computing I enjoy learning about online safety and the scams that can happen online and how to be aware and keep yourself safe.” Poppy
“I really enjoy how free the teachers let us be and how amazing they and this subject really are.” Jess
“I enjoy doing computing lessons because of all the fun activities you get to do and learn.” Nojus

Year 9
Students in year 9 are currently doing one of two projects. Some classes are working on a project where they are developing an end of term festival. This is an IT and business-based project where they have to plan and develop a series of publications to promote and advertise their event
The other year 9 groups are working on a 3-D graphic design project where they are creating a 3-D smart home of the future. The students are looking at technology that will be incorporated in the house, as well as learning about the technology of the future. They have designed a 2-D plan of their home and are now converting this into a 3-D representation using the sketch up CAD based software.
“I like computing because we have a diverse curriculum and I also enjoy that I can be creative with what we want to do.” Amira
“I enjoy how it’s about doing, and not just sitting and writing. I also enjoy computers in general.” Donaldson
“I enjoy computing as Mr Scott makes it very fun. I also enjoy computing because of all the opportunities you can get from this subject.” Rhys
“I like computing as we do lots of coding and problem solving.” Daisy

Year 10
The year 10 computer science students are busy preparing for their upcoming mocks. They are making flashcards to aid their revision and covering content they have learnt so far, plus using practice past papers and questions. They will also have a two-hour on-screen programming paper in their mock exam, therefore a lot of revision practice is being concentrated on their on-screen programming skills.
“I enjoy Computer Science as it gives me a mix of challenge and ease. You learn things that you wouldn’t have ever known about if you didn’t take the subject. The teachers are lovely and always happy to help.” Freya
“We both collectively enjoy the interesting subject of Computer Science as it challenges the brain, increasing our intellectual power.” Jake and Ollie
