Oxford University Trip

On Tuesday 29th April we took 30 year 10 students from our Oxford Scholars and Platinum Academies to Oxford University. Students firstly visited St John’s College in the centre of Oxford where they experienced a tour of the college, lunch in the grand college dining hall and talks from St John’s College ambassadors on the experience of studying at Oxford. Students had the opportunity to ask questions of our hosts about the application process, university life, course options and what makes studying at Oxford unique.

In the afternoon students visited the world-famous Oxford University Botanical Gardens where they were given a guided tour, and took part in workshops exploring the historical medicinal use of certain plant species and the current threats to global biodiversity. The gardens were stunning, especially in the glorious weather we were fortunate to have. This was then followed by a tour of the city centre and its many sights, including the Bridge of Signs, Bodleian Library (which has enough books to stretch from Oxford to Paris!), Radcliffe Camera and Christchurch College grounds.
