Dear Year 11 Parents and Carers,
This is a key term for your child as they start to plan the next steps on their education journey and we would like you to put this date in your calendars.
Event Name: Post 16 Careers Evening
Date: Thursday 26th September
Time Slot 1: 6 till 7pm Attenborough, Pele & Turing
Time Slot 2: 7 till 8pm Malala, Seacole and Angelou
Please use the front main entrance where you will be able to register.
Note: We appreciate you using your time-slot to help ease congestion, however if you can’t make your assigned slot please come along to the other.
Along with your child you will be able to meet representatives from a wide variety of Sussex based further education providers to ask questions and find out about their offer.
For those interested in apprenticeship-based routes there will be a number of local employers in attendance including The Grand Hotel, Shoreham Port and HMRC Digital. Please note that students who prefer an apprenticeship route are still expected to plan a college pathway before Christmas.
Prior to the event on Monday 23rd September, we will be providing a Post 16 pack for each student to take home. This will also be sent home via e-mail and posted on the school website. The pack will include information about the application timeline as well as a comprehensive list of open events. The digital pack will feature a video talk from Mr Henry, explaining the Post 16 process. We recommend that you watch this before the event. Mr Henry will be available on the evening to answer questions.
Please note that there is no centralised process for further education. It is the responsibility of each student and those supporting them to ensure applications are made and we hope this event and the information packs will be valuable. Extra information can be found here.
We look forward to seeing you on the night.
Yours sincerely
DHS Careers Team
