Durrington High student George Grover will be walking 100 miles across the South Downs, from Winchester to Eastbourne, during the Easter holidays to raise funds for his once in a lifetime trip to the World Scout Jamboree in SaeManGeum Korea.
George hopes to raise £2000 in total and has already undertaken various fundraising activities including litter picking, organising Easter egg hunts at primary schools, a previous 21-mile hike, and even a New Years dip in the sea!
George said; “It will be an adventure of a life time, not only does my fundraising allow me to go but also people less fortunate. 50,000 scouts from around the world experience it. It’s a celebration of hundreds of cultures and histories. I’ll be able to meet many new people, develop many new life skills and further my understanding of the world around me. As well as this, the site is one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly places being built from the ground up.”
