INSET Days – January 2022

Dear Parents / Carers,

INSET days January 2022

I write to remind parents/carers that Thursday 27th and Friday 28th January are Inset days and the school will be closed for students in years 7 – 10 both days.

Please read on if you have a child in year 11:

Year 11 students however will be in school on Thursday 27th January to complete further practice exams in English and Maths.  This is part of our normal working practice and designed to support them further in the run in to their Summer GCSE| exams. Year 11 will not be in school on Friday 28th January; this is Inset day is for them too.

On Thursday 27th students will need to arrive in school and line up in their normal location for exams by 8.45am.  It is really important they are on time please.

Students will be completing two exams:

  • 9am to 10.30am – Maths Paper 1 (Non-calculator)
  • 11.15am to 1pm – English Language Component 1

There will be a short break between the two exams however the canteen will not be open (as the school is closed). Students may bring a snack should they wish and a clear water bottle.  Students will be expected to remain on site.

All normal exam rules will apply during these exams. Students are not permitted to have any electronic devices (including watches, phones, earphones) on their person in the sports hall.  We are therefore asking that they do not bring them onto site.   Students should however bring with them the equipment needed for the exams they are taking (the maths paper is non-calculator), we will however be providing compasses as students are not allowed to have these on their person in school.

As a final point, students attending for exams do not need to wear school uniform but their clothing should be appropriate for an educational setting.

Yours sincerely

Mr C Woodcock
