Dear Parent/ Carer

It is our pleasure to write to you to inform you about the forthcoming options process and let
you know key dates. We understand that this is an important time and want to assure you we
are here to help you make decisions with your child for the courses they will study in Year 10
and Year 11. We have launched the process with the students in assembly and the students are
currently discovering key information about a range of courses during their period 1 time
with their tutors. If for any reason your child misses a session, loom videos will be made
available for them to watch at a future date. The information booklet about the options choice
will be sent home to you by the 3rd February 2025.

As normal we will be holding an Information Evening for parents (without the students) on
the 6th February. This is so you can find out more about the process and have any specific
questions you may have about GCSE courses answered. On this evening the school will be
open for you from 5pm and you can meet subject representatives in the Maths Mall. The
formal presentation will start at 5.30pm in the Performing Arts Centre. Staff will explain
how to complete the form to choose your child’s options and be on hand to answer any
individual questions you may have. We ask that you sign up HERE to confirm your
attendance. The following week we will have the consultation evening on 13th February
where you can discuss your child’s progress with their teachers.

The key dates for the options process this year are:

10th January – Student assembly introducing the options process.
13th January – 31st January – Online assemblies daily during Period 1.
3rd February – Information Booklet emailed to parents/carers. Paper copies will be
available from reception.
6th February – Parent/Carer Information Evening 5-6.30pm.
7th February – Decision form link will be emailed home. Paper copies will be available
from reception.
13th February – Y9 Consultation Evening – you can make appointments with teachers. Mrs
Allison will be available to answer any questions about the options process.
3rd March – Deadline for form completion 9am.

We are here to help and support you and your child throughout this process. There will be
plenty of opportunities to get the information you need and to ask questions in order to help
you as a family to make your decisions.
