Commencement of Homework

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Thank you for your support to date which has helped ensure a smooth return to school for all of our students.

As you will be aware students completing work away from the school site (whether this be set tasks or independent study/revision for assessments) is proven to have a positive impact on the progress they make at school.

As all students have now returned to full time schooling I am writing to let you know that homework (as it was organised before) will commence this week. As normal all set homework will be recorded on your child’s “Connect”.  Parents/carers will continue to be able to login and also receive a weekly summary of all relevant homework, student rewards and attendance.  In a minority of cases (when students fail to hand in or complete homework to an acceptable standard) sanctions will be issued.

Q. How can I support my child in completing their homework?

We know that, as parents/carers, you can play a significant role in supporting homework completion. Key strategies for parents/carers are:

  • Being proactive and discussing with your child the homework that has been set that day.
  • Ensuring that once homework is completed they have a safe place to store it so that it does not get lost prior to hand in.
  • Ensuring (where possible) that your child has a quiet space, free of distractions, to complete their homework.

Should you require any further information or clarification regarding the school’s homework systems please do not hesitate to contact me on bcrockett@durring.com.  Please also be reminded that the first contact in relation to a piece of homework should be with the teacher who set the homework (staff emails can be found here).

Kind regards

Mr B.Crockett
