This is one of those dream roles which are rarely advertised. You will be passionate about teacher training and inspiring trainees to join our great profession. Successful as a leader, you will work with trainees, schools’ senior leaders and the University of Brighton. High expectations, combined with superb care enable our trainees to achieve great outcomes and employment rates are excellent. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an amazing team who enjoy working together and are always seeking to improve further. Graded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2018; we work cross phase supporting trainees in schools.

The role has many different aspects to it;

● Leadership

● High quality teaching

● Teacher training – knowledge and experience

● Secondary and primary programmes/ curriculum development

● Recruitment and retention

● Compliance and governance

● Finance

● Partnerships with stake-holders who have different priorities

● Ability to deliver – strategically and operationally

Our SCITT programme leader has to balance these different aspects. You will have a great deal of autonomy, with clear and supportive line management. Previous applicants please do not re-apply.

This is a blended role, involving some teaching as well as working as part of the Durrington High School leadership team. A team who ensure that any necessary change is well-managed and staff are supported. We have an excellent record of retaining staff; due to strong relationships, a rich and stimulating CPD programme, excellent mentoring and support for ECTs and many development opportunities. We are one of only thirty two research schools nationally and this enhances further the opportunities for all who work with us. The SCITT is located at Durrington High School and has strong links with our Research School; ensuring practice is evidence informed. DMAT really looks after its staff so that they can ensure our children receive the best teaching and best care.
